Just a quick update….

I had my six week check up today.  I was a little nervous about it.  My blood work was good.  My tumor marker was down to seven!  That’s good news!  I was worried that it may go up without chemo.  My diet is still very strict and I’m still taking Tamoxifen.  For now I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing.  It seems to be working.

    • I’m trying to keep my body alkaline. I no longer eat anything processed. No red meat, no dairy and no sugar. I juice a lot and eat a lot of veggies. When I eat pasta my Javiee makes it from scratch. I do organic whenever possible. Wednesday is our day. So on Wednesday I get a ” free meal”, this Wednesday is was a burger! The biggest adjustment for me was getting rid of the sugar. I’m from Georgia so I love my sweet tea! If I want it I use Stevia. I use my Ninja to make blueberry and strawberry water. It’s yummy!

      • That sounds like a pretty balanced approach. So you do eat eggs and other meats? I am eating less red meat, but the total vegetarian/vegan thing doesn’t make me feel my best. I need fat and protein to feel satisfied.

You Javiee sounds like an awesome dude! I think my husband is trying to escape from this whole caretaker role. In the beginning he was great, but now I feel kind of alone sometimes.

  1. I honestly couldn’t imagine going through this without him! No matter what stage of treatment we’re in it’s hard!
I still eat eggs, fish and organic chicken. After watching so many food documentaries during chemo I’m afraid of chicken that’s not organic! I make smoothies with a banana, chia seeds, cacao nibs and ice when I really want chocolate. It’s not always easy, but I believe our diet is a big part of our healing. In my experience its not really something doctors put much emphasis on. That surprises me!
